The World of Organ Music – the Gottfried Silbermann Society
In Freiberg, at the heart of Silbermann’s world, the Gottfried Silbermann Society has been dedicated to preserving the legacy of the internationally celebrated Saxon master organ builder since 1990. With the society’s concerts, excursions, conferences and various children’s and youth projects, our fascination with Silbermann’s organs is kept alive. In the Silbermann House on Freiberg’s Schloßplatz, a new exhibition with a historical workshop has been opened.
The Silbermann Days are the highlight of the year’s events. This is a music festival with an international organ competition that attracts outstanding artists and the most promising young organists to the region from across the globe.
The Gottfried Silbermann Society also puts out numerous publications – from academic articles to children’s books.
The Gottfried Silbermann Society and the City of Freiberg are members of the association ECHO – European Cities of Historical Organs.
